Effectus Corporation is a full-service plastics recycling and manufacturing company based in Texas, with facilities in the U.S. and Mexico.

We collect and process post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste into pellets, giving companies a way to recover revenue from material that would otherwise go to landfill.

On the manufacturing side, we run compression molding lines producing commercial products including dumpster lids for commercial dumpsters and plastic lumber. Our plastic lumber resists water, salt, humidity, insects, UV damage, and won't crack, split, or splinter, making it a strong fit for marine construction and other outdoor commercial projects along the Gulf region.

We distribute the full line of hanit® recycled-plastic products throughout Texas and the Southwest. Built to replace high-maintenance wood and concrete, these products are rot-proof, splinter-free, and virtually indestructible against weather and heavy use.
While we supply everything from park benches and marine decking to landscaping and playground structures, we specialize in ground stabilization and mud control for farms, equestrian centers, and job sites.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, we help companies meet sustainability and net zero goals while turning plastic waste into revenue instead of a disposal cost.

Capabilities

What we bring to the table.

Plastics recycling & recovery

We collect, sort, wash, and reprocess post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste into regrind and pellets. Our dedicated agricultural drip tape program also recovers clean polyethylene from farming operations across the Southwest.

Recycling consulting & program design

Waste stream audits, closed-loop program design, recycled content integration, custom compounding, and ESG-ready reporting — grounded in the daily operation of our own recycling facility.

Agricultural plastics recycling

Structured, on-farm collection and mechanical recycling program that converts used polyethylene drip tape from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern California into specification-grade recycled PE resin.

Manufacturing & toll services

Compression molding, light assembly, and contract packaging from our Juárez, Mexico facility, with nearshore manufacturing advantages and USMCA benefits for North American supply chains. We also manufacture dumpster lids and plastic lumber.

Recycled-product distribution

Distribution of Hanit® ground reinforcement and mud control products, including ground grids, paddock slabs, mud control grids, paving stones, HanPave™, and Eco Slabs for equestrian, agricultural, residential and commercial, and construction markets.

Our founder

Ricardo Duarte, Founder

Ricardo Duarte was born in Nicaragua and moved to neighboring Costa Rica shortly after the Sandinista Revolution, where he later earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Costa Rica. In 1989, he came to Texas to pursue an MBA at Texas A&M University, and stayed. What followed was nearly a decade at Union Carbide, where he learned the plastics industry from the inside, working in sales and gaining the technical and commercial grounding that would shape everything he built afterward.

When Dow Chemical acquired Union Carbide, Ricardo saw an opening rather than an ending. He struck out on his own, starting a plastics distribution and recycling company that would become the foundation for Effectus Corporation, founded in 2001. Two decades later, that decision has grown into a full-service operation spanning plastics recycling, manufacturing, and distribution across Texas, the U.S. Southwest, and Mexico.

Ricardo's path, from Nicaragua to Costa Rica to Texas, and from an engineering degree to a career built in industrial plastics, gives Effectus a founder who understands both the material science and the business of turning waste into something useful. That combination still drives the company today: fewer landfills, more revenue recovered from what used to be thrown away.
